Originally from Kansas, Audra has extensive training in classical ballet, pointe, partnering, jazz, modern, and graduated with a Fine Arts Degree in musical theatre from the University of Oklahoma. Her style blends this training with creative storytelling ability developed as an actor at the collegiate and professional level. Since moving to New York, her style evolved through further experience in the contemporary and commercial world as well as training and working with a broad range of dancers.
Audra brings exceptional ability to visualize how the movement of actors/artists, dancers, and technical elements merge to enhance a story being told. Her connection with basic, core emotions helps her translate complex aspects of personal experience to body movement. This creates movement and choreography that is emergent, pedestrian and sometimes “in-human” but reaches the audience in a visceral way. Ultimately, she envisions using movement as a means of expressing thoughts, emotions, and physical experience.
Audra’s decade-long involvement as an educator has helped her develop an ability to direct the movement of an artist to enhance their creative expression. She has a passion for people, and an innate understanding of their personal relationship with movement and dance. She finds joy in providing the space for, and guidance to, artists to assist in their expression through movement. Currently, Audra serves as the Director of Dance and Resident Choreographer for Broadway Method Academy, a musical theatre training program located in Fairfield, Connecticut. She continues to collaborate with artists in NYC and take on various projects for stage and screen asa choreographer and movement coach.
